Welcome to 2023!

Each year, I spend the last few weeks of December reflecting upon the last twelve months, both personally and professionally. I must admit, 2022 was a good year. But, with each year comes new ideas, opportunities, and changes!

One idea I've failed miserably on is my goal to post frequent blogs--note my last post was 2021. In an effort to break the non-posting streak, I thought that sharing some of my changes and ideas as my first 2023 blog would help me to begin down the right track towards actually posting blogs more often.

So what will you see change in 2023 you ask? Read on for exciting news!

  1. First and foremost, I have decided to go 3/4 time teaching, rather than full-time beginning in August. I ultimately did this to attend my girls' activities in the afternoons, but it will also open up some weekday afternoon sessions once school starts up in the fall! With this decision comes compromise, and I promised my family I would no longer do Sunday photo sessions-it's reserved strictly for family day.
  2. Education will always be a passion of mine, and I plan to use that more with my clients this year. I will spend more time educating you on wall art options, what to wear, make-up ideas, and so much more! I am continuously investing in education myself to refine my craft, so I feel it only makes sense to help you more with the entire portrait process in 2023.
  3. Many times I have been asked about packages, and I will now be offering a couple for my sessions! This will allow you to build something that is more catered to you and your family's needs.
  4. Prices tend to have to go up a bit each year because of service costs. This holds true with photography as well. If you still plan to order from your 2022 galleries, I will honor those prices until my own lab increases their prices on February 2nd. It isn't a large increase, but I do want to honor my 2022 prices for my 2022 clients.

And lastly, customer service will become my primary focus. With growth and reflection comes admission on what I also need to improve upon and completely redo. I didn't say "no" to anything in 2022 because my focus was on growing my business and expanding outward. Instead, I feel I compromised my family time and customer service. Because of this, I will now be doing both a pre-session consult and exclusively doing in-person viewing sessions after your shoot, whether that be in my studio or virtually via Zoom. We will also be able to have a discussion on what it is you truly want from your session prior to the shoot, so I can cater more to your individual preferences. This will allow me to help you select what will work best in your home, in an album, or as gift prints. I have software that allows you to take a picture of your wall and we virtually place the correct sizes in your house!

Congratulations if you've read this far! I am so thankful for all of you and how you have supported my growing business through booking me, recommending me, or encouraging me. Portraits are one of those investments that don't go out of style and can last long after we are gone, and I am honored that you support me as a photographer to share your images for posterity.
